Who we are
Nicer Wellington Street is an informal community group of Collingwood and Clifton Hill residents supporting a safer and more pleasant Wellington Street for all. Membership is not formal; it comprises individuals recognised as members by the group’s organisers.
References to “we” in this policy mean Nicer Wellington Street and its members.
What we collect and why
Support registrations. If you register your support via the form on this site, we collect the information you submit, which may include your name, suburb, and email address. We use this to:
- demonstrate community backing for the proposals to Yarra City Council;
- contact you in relation to the proposed Wellington Street changes; and
- display quotes or comments from your submission on this website, where you have provided them. If you opt in to allow your name to be published when signing up, your name may be displayed alongside your quote; otherwise quotes will be anonymised with no identifying information included.
Site usage data. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is being used. This collects anonymised data about your visit from all visitors. It is not linked to any data submitted via the support registration form. No form submission is required for this data to be collected.
Who we share your information with
Support registration data may be shared with Yarra City Council as evidence of community support. Data shared with council will be limited to your name, suburb, and any comment you provide; your email address will not be included. Council will handle that information in accordance with Yarra City Council’s privacy policy.
Quotes or comments may be displayed publicly. Where you have opted in to named attribution, your name may appear alongside your quote. Otherwise, no personal information will be included. If you change your mind about named attribution after registering, contact us at sayyes+removal@nicer-wellington-street.org and we will remove your name. Quotes may be edited or excerpted for brevity, clarity, or the removal of personal information where provided.
We will not otherwise share your personal information with any other person or organisation.
Third-party services
This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub logs visitor IP addresses for security purposes. See GitHub’s note on Pages data collection and GitHub’s Privacy Statement for details.
Support registration forms have been provided by MailerLite, Google Forms, and JotForm at various times. Personal information submitted via these forms is stored by the respective provider and governed by their privacy policies: MailerLite, Google, JotForm. Site usage data is collected by Google Analytics, also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.
How long we keep your information
We retain support registration data for as long as the Wellington Street project is active, including the design and feasibility phase that follows the 12 May 2026 decision and any subsequent consultation, funding and delivery stages. We will delete the data when the project concludes or sooner if we cease operating. You may request earlier deletion of your own data at any time (see below).
Your information rights
You may request that we delete your personal information, provide you with a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or correct information that is inaccurate or out of date. To make any of these requests, email sayyes+removal@nicer-wellington-street.org from the email address you used to register your support, with the subject line “Personal information request”. Requests must come from the registered email address so we can verify that the request relates to your own information. We will respond promptly.
You may also unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send. Unsubscribing stops further emails but does not delete your registration data; use the deletion request above if you want your data removed as well.
